Organic Gardening
The Key To Organic Gardening
Attention to soil is the key to organic gardening. Regularly add organic matter to the soil, using locally available resources wherever possible.
Organic matter is easily accessible to everyone everyday, as the your lawn, garden and kitchen produce them everyday. The building blocks of compost are:-
- Decaying plant wastes - grass clippings, fall leaves
- Vegetable scraps - from the kitchen
Compost is the ideal organic matter for your garden soil. If you add compost to your soil, you're already well on your way to raising a beautiful, healthy garden organically.
The other key is to choose plants suited to the site. Choosing plants that are adpated to your climate and coniditions are able to grow without a lot of attention or input.
If you do try to grow a plant that is not right for your site, you will probably have to boost its natural defenses to keep it healthy and productive.
